Water Pollution

Water pollution is the name for water being destroyed, such as rivers or streams being filled with dirt and turned into stoney rubble and mud. Water pollution was a very big problem during the gold rush. The reason for water pollution during the gold rush was because alluvial gold is found near creeks and rivers and in order to get this gold you have to dig out the creek beds then wash it out with water, this left the creeks as stoney rubble, causing the animals around the area to flee in order to find water or they could risk dying of thirst.
