SluicingSluicing is the process of washing the soil off hillsides and creek beds with a high pressure hose and then the mud is flowed into ponds where it is sieved for gold. This was a very big problem because it destroyed hillsides, creek beds and then ponds, this is called water pollution. This also led to animals fleeing. Although Sluicing was quite common during the gold rush it ha a damaging impact on the environment. |
